Lee was speaking to reporters after the grand launch of “Yes 4G Network” by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin here today.

Also present were Minister of Information, Communications and Culture, Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim and Tun Lim Keng Yaik, former Energy, Water and Communications Minister.

Users just have to “pay-as-you-go (use)” of nine sen for 3MB of data, one minute of calls or one short message service, said Lee.

“Yes” also offers a rebate of up to 30 percent to power users who consume high amounts of data.

This will effectively reduce the already attractive rates to as low as two sen per MB or RM20 per GB while offering users the power to self-manage by setting temporary data caps.

At the launch, YTL Communications and Samsung also introduced the world’s first all 4G mobile phone called the “Yes Buzz.”

YTL Communications has also successfully interconnected its network with other mobile service providers in the country beginning today.

“Finally, we are interconnected to everybody with the full cooperation of other service providers. I think we have joined the club and want to keep up our performance,” said Executive Director Datuk Yeoh Seok Hong.

As of yesterday, it was not certain if YTL Communication had interconnected with other service providers.

But, Yeoh declined to reveal the number of its pre-registered users except to say:”It is three times more than what we expected and the numbers are healthy.”

Being the first in the world to introduce the service, he claimed that there were no comparison or competition for its services.

Yeoh said the company was keen to cooperate with China and the rest of Asia’s telecommunication service providers to provide the 4G services.

Elaborating further on “Yes”, Lee said “Yes ID” comes with the 4G Internet with a 018 mobile number that enables connectivity via multiple devices.

He also claimed that Internet users with “Yes Network” would enjoy speeds up to five times faster than 3G, meaning one can upload an entire 100-picture photo album in the same time it takes to send 20 photographs.

“Yes Network” services is also one converged plan, without a contract.
